The Introduction

A foggy memory

A foggy memory

I had always avoided the game of golf. During my high school years I had a couple of friends that played and had invited me out to go to the range for a bit, I promptly denied. In college, I could have taken Golf or Racquetball, I can say now I was a pretty good racquetball player after those classes. I realized a long time ago that when I find an interest, some MIGHT call an obsession I would dive right into it and learn all I could about it. Golf was a sport that I had always heard was a life changing obsession to many. From business to competition, there was something about golf that made people love it so.

I started my interest in the game in August of last year in the UK during a business trip. Little did I know that I was playing on an elite country club course and with these “irons” that cost more than my flight out there. I was done for, on the exterior I was trying to watch others, keeping calm, very proper and emulate their design but inside I was fighting the screams, “Damn little ball, GET IN THE HOLE!!” and “CRAP! I can do better give me another ball”. On the flight home, I was hooked I realized it when I went to the airport book store to find golf magazines to read just a little more about this strange game.

Fast forward a year, literally hundreds of internet sites, subscriptions, group lessons, pro advice, books, television shows, You tube, the list goes on and on. I wished I had a resource of the “do’s and don’ts” in getting started and some experiences that I had gone through. Not at all thinking that I am the professor or some golfer elite, my objective is to recognize that I am the newb (newbie – new to this, with a minorly derogatory tone.) here and hopefully others can learn, laugh, or even assist.

So, thanks for visiting and let the blog begin! 
